Good afternoon Komaza Beauties,

This Sunday some of the Komaza staff will be at the Health Fair at Center of Praise in Midtown Sacramento from 7am-1pm.If you’re in the area please come visit us. We’d like to meet all of our supporters.

Trends of the week:

Toms: Word on the street is these shoes are very comfortable, perfect for running errands, wearing casual and I’ve even been told they are suitable for the club. There are a variety of colors and prints available. Tom’s can be found at your local Nordstroms, Journeys, Macy’s etc.

Boots: I know its summer time but yes women we can still rock the boots. but you want some that are flat, comfortable and breathable! For example….

Combat boots are also in. I never thought something so rugged could be so fashionable. These boots take some creativity and imagination to jazz ‘em up a lil but it can be done. If any of you have pictures with any pair of these shoes please post them. Also if you have any other cute pics shoes you’d like to show us, please share. I’m sure we all want to stay up on our shoe game!

Have a great weekend ladies. Feel free to comment.

Great afternoon ladies. What a lovely summer day! We hope you all are enjoying the weather just as much as we are. We also hope that you are protecting your hair from the heat. Now is a great time to get acquainted with lots of water. Underneath your moisture sealant you want to use something like the Coconut Curl Spray, Califia Moisturizing Spray or any other leave in conditioner. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call.

For all of our Intense Moisture Therapy lovers, we are still out of stock. Unfortunately our suppliers of our raw ingredients for it have gone out of business and we are having a very difficult time finding new suppliers. Until we are able to find the supplies that we need, the Intense Moisture Therapy will be out of stock. If you are looking for a deep conditioner, the Olive Moisture Mask is another great choice. If you are looking for a protein treatment, you can use the Protein Hair Strengthener and follow it with the Olive Moisture Mask, that way you are still getting the benefits of what the Intense Moisture Therapy will do. We know it has been a couple of months since this has been out of stock, but we are trying our hardest to obtain these ingredients at a reasonable cost for consumers. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Who knows their Komaza products the best? Between the Coconut Milk and the Coconut Lotion, which is the heavier moisturizer? Also, which product can be used as a moisturizer as well as a moisture sealant?

Well have a great weekend all. Be safe, beautiful and blessed!

Hello wonderful Komaza Beauties! How did everyone’s week go? Fine we hope. First we would like to send out sincerest apologies for the delay in shipping out the Olive Moisture Mask. We ran out of supplies quicker than anticipated from our Memorial Day sale. By the way, thank you to all that were a part of the sale. We truly appreciate your business. If you missed out on this one, don’t fret. There will be another sale before you know it.

For those that are waiting for the Intense Moisture Therapy (IMT) we are still waiting for certain ingredients. Feel free to contact us about when this product will be in stock, and of course we will let you know as soon as it becomes available. The Olive Moisture Mask (combined with the Protein Hair Strengthener) is a great alternative for the IMT. You get the same great results such as soft, shiny and detangled hair. If you haven’t used this before, give it a try. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

If you’re in the Sacramento area Komaza will be having their first Meet-up next month. Go to meetup.com and search for Komaza Black Hair Enthusiasts or call us at 1-877-279-6227 for more details. The deadline to sign up is July 5,2011

That’s it for this week ladies. Check us out on Facebook. Stay blessed,

Styles of the week:

Did anyone get a chance to try any of the styles from the YouTube videos posted a few weeks ago? Unfortunately, I didn’t get to but that was because my hair actually acted right in Miami. So I didn’t have to do more than curl it or put a flower in it. I think Toni was satisfied with her hair as well. She rolled her hair and rocked one of my favorite styles…the infamous Mohawk!!! (I’m sure I’ll be wearing this style a lot this summer. )

I would like to hear from some of you and know what your favorite summer styles are. Even if it’s a style you seen on someone else, please share. I must say, the fade on women is looking more appealing each time I see it. I saw a few people rocking fades in Miami. Some with their hair dyed red and blonde and others with their natural dark brown and black hair. They all looked very elegant and were worn gracefully. My favorite was a blonde fade worn with earrings that connected into one necklace. YES!!! Earrings that is a necklace. It was so cute I had to buy the chain, although I’m not sure if I’ll be sporting the fade with it Please share some of your hair do’s with other Komaza Beauties so we can all experience the wonderful joys of gorgeous,( hopefully natural) and healthy hair.

Kisses,

This week in Komaza:

Great Afternoon Ladies! If you haven’t read last week’s blog please do. There is some very useful information there about the Moku Pre Shampoo and its benefits. I was asked last week if Komaza offered something for sun protection. After reviewing the facts about the Moku Pre Shampoo I noticed vitamins E and C protects against radiation and fight against free radicals. If you guys pay close attention to the ingredients you’ll notice these vitamins, along with many others, are included in many of the products. Therefore the make-up of the products naturally provides protection from the sun. If you make a purchase this weekend May 20-22 you’ll receive a free 4oz Moku Pre Shampoo to try for yourself.

Be on alert for Komaza’s very own first meet up. We have started a Sacramento Black Natural Hair Enthusiast group and encourage men and women of Northern California who are interested in the care of natural African American hair to join. We would like to meet you in person. The first one will be held in Sacramento for our local Beauties, on July 16th. RSVP today spots are limited and we are expecting to max out!

You can join and get more information about this group here: http://www.meetup.com/Sacramento-Black-Natural-Hair-Enthusiast/ .

You can also visit us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sacramento-Black-Natural-Hair-Enthusiasts/226219650725206 . Stop by and Like us on Facebook, we would really appreciate it!

If you haven’t already, please add Komaza to your friends list on Facebook. If you’re not on Facebook that’s fine, you can continue to access the blog directly on our website or sign up for the newsletter to stay in the loop. There’s many different ways to stay connected with us.

We would also like to congratulate our very own graduates, Valencia and Arielle. Valencia on graduating with her Masters in Criminal Justice and Arielle for graduating with her AA in Arts. Keep on shooting for the stars ladies, we love you.

KHC

Hot styles for Hot ladies:

As summer slowly approaches I’m sure we’re all trying to figure out how we are going to style our hair and fight against the weather. I’ll be headed to Miami next week so I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. For those that don’t know I’m halftural (half natural), I’m not relaxed but I go back and forth between flat ironing and natural styling. Before I actually leave to Miami I will have my hair straightened for graduation so my concern is the humidity out there. I was offered many suggestions but couldn’t decide so I gave up. I decided I’d just wear it down until the weather had its way with it. It got me to thinking,” I can’t be the only one going through this”. So I thought I’d do us all a favor and do some research.

I’ve spent most of my morning online and looking in magazines. I found three videos on YouTube as well as some ideas in Essence. Between these two resources I think I’ve got my trip covered. In the June issue of Essence their summer styles are separated by hair length. The one that caught my eye was Beyonce’s pulled back style. I’m expecting it to be hot and hair in my face would just cramp my style. However, with this style I can still keep it classy and cool. I may still have to figure something out for my hair on my back. This style would go perfect with a backless top or off the shoulder blouse. I can see it already. (If you’re rocking any of the styles that require heat, the Shea Butter Hair Lotion and Moku Oil provide good heat protection)

I figured after a day or two my hair would start to grow (frizz out from humidity). That’s where the lovely YouTube videos from naptural85 come in. I liked all three styles however for the purpose of Miami I think I’ll try the Effortless Beach Waves. I’m most excited about the twist in the front that I can leave in place of a flower. I was actually going to purchase some hair accessories this weekend (flowers being one of them) for the trip. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Of course my hair will come out a little different considering I’ll be twisting, for the most part, from flat ironed hair. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it all worked. I’m sure there will be photos. If you guys have anymore suggestions feel free to post. Stay fly ladies!

Always,

New Bantu knot method- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4BWt3_7WVQ I suggest using the Vitamin Reign, Califia or Coconut Spray to wet the hair. Either a quarter size of the Califia Cream or Shea Butter Hair Lotion to help define the curls. To freshen the curls when pulling them out the Moku Butter or Oil is appropriate to minimize frizz.

New twist out method- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6ntmGdXXUw&feature=relmfu I suggest using the Vitamin Reign, Califia or Coconut Spray to wet the hair. The Coconut or Califia Pudding may come in handy here but not a lot. Again to freshen the curls when pulling them out use the Moku Butter or Oil.

Effortless beach waves- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE-xKlc12tE&feature=relmfu this style looks like it would work best after the original style has lost its touch. Maybe dampening it may help before combing and styling because there’s already product in it. If you dealing with and old flat iron such as myself a touch of Shea Butter Hair Lotion will probably do the trick.

Hello Komaza Beauties,

Thank you all for your prayers last week. And a special thanks to my Komaza family for all of the encouraging words, prayers, etc. Thanks to Rene for filling in.

Great information, right? I vote she should blog more often for us. I’d always known Aloe Vera was great for scars. But I had no idea how beneficial it was to the scalp or that it acts as a toner. Isn’t it great there’s so many ways to use God’s creations??!! Can you guys think of any other ways to use an Aloe Vera plant? If so, please let us know by leaving a comment.

I would like to remind everyone of our up and coming Giveaway weekends. We will notify everyone through e-mail, facebook, twitter, and our blog. So make sure you get connected. You won’t wanna miss it.

This week I would like to pay homage to the Moku Pre-Shampoo. Did you know you can use it after shampooing as well? This is a must have in my hair regimen because I have such dry hair. My hair loves this stuff and it seems to satisfy the “miss diva” personality of my hair. Here is how I use it:

First, I shampoo. Then remove excess water and follow with Moku Pre Shampoo (I just lean my head forward over sink and pour directly on my hair). Then I finger comb or message through to make sure I get it all over and in there good. I then wrap my hair with a hot towel (like a facial steam) and let it sit until steam is gone. I then remove the towel and rinse with lukewarm water and proceed to conditioning. You may use the Moku Pre Shampoo and your conditioner at the same time as long as you use a steamer or a hot towel. I do this every time I shampoo but you can do it every week if that is best for you.

To use it before shampooing just apply to your hair and let it sit for an hour with a steamer or towel. Then shampoo. You will still get great results.

The Moku Pre Shampoo contains:

Coconut Water stops hair shed, increases hair density, contain anti-fungal properties which stops dandruff.

Coconut Milk is great for growth and strengthening hair. Coconut Milk is known to be highly successful hair re-growth.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil penetrates hair shaft for great conditioning making hair soft and smooth as well as strengthening.

Aloe Vera, oooh, we all know how awesome aloe is for the hair (read previous post).

Passion Flower encourages healthy hair growth and increased vitality.

Vitamin E – the Protector. Vitamin E protects DNA and other cell structures from free radical attack and prevents lipid peroxidation. It protects the hair against damage to hair color and strength caused by UV-induced free radicals.

Vitamin C – the Protective Corrector. Vitamin C protects cells from free radical attack and helps protect hair color from UV radiation.

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) – the Energizer. Vitamin B3 stimulates blood circulation in the skin and activates oxygen transport to the hair follicles to stimulate hair growth.

Vitamin B5 (Calcium Pantothenate) – the Moisturizer. Calcium Pantothenate is converted to free Vitamin B5 which maintains the moisture level of the hair and stimulates hair growth.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) – the Cell Activator. Vitamin B6 stimulates hair growth and maintains it in a healthy state.

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural sulfur. Sulfur is an important ingredient in all hair growth treatments.

Now you can see why the Moku Pre Shampoo is a must-have for me. This is one I cannot do without. If you do not get results right away do not be discouraged (even though I got immediate result) I have been told by a friend that it took a couple of treatments before she noticed a difference.

This product has so many great ingredients I would be shocked if it didn’t work. Here’s to the Moku Pre Shampoo, my unsung hero.

Trend of the Week:

Hey Ladies. I hope all is well. I was skimming through the May issue of Essence magazine and ran across a page that was showing off cute travel bags. I wish I would have known this a few months ago when I was on hunt for mine. I could have saved money and been up on the trends. My favorite looks like a briefcase on wheels. Very sassy!!! If you guys subscribe to the magazine check it out. Beauties, if you have more fashion tips please feel free to comment and share with the rest of us. That’s all for now.

Sincerely,

V-love

Hello Everyone,

This is Rene filling in for V. She is out today taking her final exam for her Masters in Criminal Justice so please keep her in prayer. Tomorrow, here in Sacramento, will be the Susan G. Komen walk for the cure of breast cancer. Jennifer will be participating as a survivor. Can you believe it? It has almost been a year (May 25th 2010) since she was diagnosed with breast cancer. And at this very moment I am giving thanks.

For those of you who placed your order last weekend we hope you were pleased with your gift. We enjoyed this so much we are anticipating having more weekend giveaways. One, in particular, weekend giveaway I am excited about is our “favorite things” giveaway weekend.

This is when we will put in each order that comes in that Friday-Sunday a favorite item we personally enjoy or can not do without. I am so excited about having our very own Oprah experience.

These items will range anywhere from our favorite natural soaps, fragrances, body care, or even some of the items we have created behind the scenes that we can not do without (we do not offer these specialty items in our product line because not all products are created for hair and are a bit too pricey to create on a greater scale).

The weekend giveaways will not be held every weekend and we will be sure to notify you when we are having a giveaway. So look out for them because here they come!

Real quick! I wanna give a shout out to my girl Aloe Vera. You may notice we include her in every hair care product we create we never skimp on the Aloe Vera and here’s why:

Aloe Vera contains enzymes that stimulate hair growth. This is great news for those of us who suffer from Alopecia. It won’t cure Alopecia but can combat some of the hair loss.

She also is great for healing scars including scars on the scalp. That is HUGE! A scarred scalp means hair loss. Your scalp can become scarred from over exposure to hair relaxers.

Aloe Vera inhibits the growth of dandruff and soothes dry or/and inflamed scalp. Oh my goodness, some real relief from that itchy scalp!

Aloe Vera acts as a toner in hair care products meaning it helps to deliver herbal properties and other nutrients further into the hair shaft. I don’t need to tell you how wonderful that is.

Last but not least, Aloe Vera really truly gives hair shine and a silky feel.

We didn’t even touch on all the wonderful things it does for the body! I recommend everyone having an Aloe Vera plant because of her many benefits. I bought my Aloe plant from Home Depot. You can find them at stores like Target, Lowes, or your local nursery. We LOVE Aloe Vera and hope you do too.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!! Hey, moms are like Aloe Vera! So awesome in so many ways!

Have a great big beautiful blessed weekend.

Love,

Rene
