Hair Typing & Product Recommendations
We know that everyone’s hair is unique. Even if you and a friend have the same hair texture, what works for her/him may not work for you.
There are many factors that come into play which make up our hair’s characteristics such as: water intake, environment, climate, exercise, hormones, age, grooming habits, curl pattern and coarseness. So it can get a little tricky when looking for a product that suits you.
We think we can help. Komaza Care’s complete product line is interchangeable, meaning , you can switch or mix products of each line. We have created different hair care lines for Afircan American hair which will serve you in all your hair endeavors.
We do not carry any products with a pH balance over 6.8 and all of our shampoos, conditioners, hair lotions, and leave-in conditioners contain:
The Califia Line is our heaviest moisture line. It was created for those with Type 4 hair in mind. We would also recommend this line for Type 3C’s as a winter time option. It was created to protect fragile hair from breakage. This line contains Algae and Pullan, a natural sugar that contains anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C and B12. It protects cells from stress and strengthens hair as well as retain moisture.
Type 4 hair is tightly coiled kinky hair. Versatile but tends to be dry and fragile. It has less cuticle layers so hair grows slower. Type 4 hair does not absorb water as readily as Type 3 but should be added once daily for moisture. We do not recommend brushing Type 4 hair, instead, use a wide tooth comb.
The Coconut Curl Line is our medium moisture line. It was designed for those of us with Type 3 & Type 2 hair. It contains real coconut milk and oil which is known for ultimate curl care because of coconut’s hydrating abilities as well as vitamin and mineral rich properties. Coconut milk and oil easily penetrates the hair shaft making hair soft, healthy, and growing.
Type 3 hair Curly- from loose to spiral. 3a has a loose curl pattern, 3b has a tighter curl, 3c has a tighter curl that may look a little more frizzy or kinky. This type of hair tends to look a little less shiny because it is harder for the hair to reflect the light. Type 3 hair needs more moisture because the natural oils from the scalp can not cover the hair shaft due to the bends of the curl. Type 3 hair easily absorbs and loves water. Be careful of water damage to hair. Try adding water to hair once daily.
Type 2 hair- Wavy 2a is fine and wavy, 2b is medium and wavy, 2c is thick course and can look a little frizzy.
The Moku line is our lightest textured line (keep in mind it is light in comparison to the fore mentioned hair care lines). It was created for those of us with chemically treated hair, transitioning, and heat activated styles such as flat ironed.
It contains lacto-ceramide a natural lipid and potent moisturizer. It protects hair from environmental/climate, chemical and heat styling damage. It adds volume and fullness to fine hair and contain restorative properties to keep hair strong.
Even though we have designed each line with a specific hair type in mind you may use any of the products no matter your hair texture. And as mentioned before, you may mix and match any of the products to find the best combination for your hair.
